Calendar of the Soul

Verses by Rudolf Steiner
English Translations by Tom Mellett

Twenty Sixth Week / Twenty Seventh Week

Here is the next pair of Calendar of the Soul verses for this week (#26) and its polar opposite (#27). These are the Michaelmas verses and they constitute the second crossing point of the lemniscate for the year. The first crossing point is the transition from verse (#52) to verse (#1) which is Easter Sunday.

It is only at this crossing point , which happens twice a year, that we meet with our brothers and sisters "down under" in Australia, New Zealand, etc. At all other times of the year, we are travelling on the opposite "lobes" of the lemniscate.

So, Happy "Easter" you lovey blokes and sheilas down under!

For the Easter 2000 to Holy Saturday 2001 cycle:
This week's verse (#26) has dates of: September 29 - October 5
The polar verse (#27) corresponds to the week: October 6 - 12

[Note: The dates with the verses are the original dates given by Steiner.]

Z.    26. Woche    (29. September - 5. Oktober)
Natur, dein muetterliches Sein,
Ich trage es in meinem Willenswesen;
Und meines Willens Feuermacht,

Sie staehlet meines Geistes Triebe,
Dass sie gebaeren Selbstgefuehl,
Zu tragen mich in mir.

Z.    26th week:    (September 29 - October 5)
I hold your motherly essence
in the being of my will.

And the fiery power of my will
tempers my spiritual urges,

so that they may give birth
to the feeling of myself---

to hold my self within me.

A'.    27. Woche    (6. - 12. Oktober)
In meines Wesens Tiefen dringen:
Erregt ein ahnungsvolles Sehnen,
Dass ich mich selbstbetrachtend finde,
Als Sommersonnengabe, die als Keim
In Herbestesstimmung waermend lebt
Als meiner Seele Kraeftetrieb.

A'.    27th week:    (October 6 - 14)
A yearning,
filled with anticipation,
stirs within me---

so that I will find myself
by observing myself
as the gift of the summer sun,

which, as a seed,

incubating in the mood of autumn,

lives on as the impulse
of my soul forces.
