Calendar of the Soul

Verses by Rudolf Steiner
English Translations by Tom Mellett

Ninth Week / Forty Fourth Week

Here is the next installment of the Calendar of the Soul verses for this week (#9) and its polar opposite (#44). Note how the verses have diverged from the lemniscate's crossing point at Easter, (which is Verse #1 with Polar verse #52). We are now 3 weeks from St. John's Tide (#12), which occurs right after the Summer Solstice and marks the top of the lemniscate.

For the Easter 2000 to Holy Saturday 2001 cycle:
This week's verse (#9) has dates of: June 7 - 12
The polar verse (#44) corresponds to the week: February 1 - 9

[Note: The dates with the verses are the original dates given by Steiner.]

I.    9. Woche    (2. - 8. Juni)
Vergessend meine Willenseigenheit
Erfuellet Weltenwaerme sommerkuendend
Mir Geist und Seelenwesen;

Im Licht mich zu verlieren
Gebietet mir das Geistesschauen,
Und kraftvoll kuendet Ahnung mir:

"Verliere dich, um dich zu finden."

I.    9th week:    (June 2 - 8)
As I now forget my own will,
cosmic warmth fills my spirit and soul---
announcing: summer is come!

Spirit vision pleads with me
to lose myself in light,
and a premonition warns me loudly:

"Lose yourself to find yourself!"

R'.    44. Woche    (2. - 8. Februar)
Ergreifend neue Sinnesreize
Erfuellet Seelenklarheit,
Eingedenk vollzogener Geistgeburt,
Verwirrend sprossend Weltenwerden
Mit meines Denkens Schoepferwillen.

R'.    44th week:    (February 2 - 8)
Stirring new sensual magic,
recalling its own spirit birth,
the clarity of my soul
now fills
the bewildering, teeming,
evolving universe
with the creative willing
of my own thinking.
